Dozens of legendary Cuban and Latin American writers, composers, political leaders and the like are buried here, including Cuba's most important figure in music, Ernesto Lecuona, composer and virtuoso pianist (below, dark mausoleum). What a surprise, then, to find out that my paternal grandparents and my dad's only brother are also buried here, in a corner of this renowned place, with one of the few remaining trees some feet away.
It was very emotional to visit this spot and to leave flowers on their grave.
